I was lucky to meet Ksenia while I was visiting the Planta Glamp Farm in Huatulco, Mexico. I am grateful of that unexpexted experience. As soon as she told me about her experience as a physical/massage therapist, I was interested for a session. Ksenia spent a lot of time in assessing my life situation, my typical day to day movement patterns and my personality, especially in how I was dealing with stressful situations. She was not just analyzing mechanically, she tried to gain a holistic perspective on me in my current state of life. The way she treated me as a client is different than my regular physical therapy experience. She emphasizes not just on the physical and anatomical part of the body, but particularly on the connection between mind and body. Besides that, she did not just treat the area I felt the most pain but also took a closer look at the feet, legs, my hips, my lower back, because she understands the human body as a cohesive ecosystem.
After many years of treatments, appointments at the orthopedic and chiropractor, I spend quite some time with my pain. Thanks to her thoughts and ideas, I came to the realization that the power of breathing and imagination is a key part to establish a healthier connection to your body thus creating a feasible path for increasing your health.
Ksenia understands and values the importance of a good practitioner/client relationship. She created a relaxing and trusting atmosphere where I was able to really let go of my inner tension without worrying that I would embarrass myself. She did not have any issues with finding and treating muscle knots well and with proper force (I am big guy, 1,85m and 110kg). She provides a written wrap up of each session with useful recommendations to adress the issues.
In my final session, before I left the farm, she showed my useful exercises for authentic stretching. I took many notes, now it depends on my work I put into the relationship to my body and the movements. I think a drawing, a short written instruction or a video is more helpful to do the exercises.
It is important to meet your own body with mindfulness and full awareness in order to reprogram it for a long lasting health, this is what I finally understood with Ksenia’s help.
